I have seen similar with ancient (1910-1920) Kodak autographic folders - decomposing bellows, but an older (1907) Ansco with real leather bellows is intact (different garage/attic/basement environments, but all my Autographics are crumbled...with the 'synthetic' leather).
To stay on topic, I have a M-5 too...hit or miss...shutter is great, except when it sticks open about 1/8 of the time...focus is on then off. I think there may some slipping when using the thumbwheel focus.
I had one roll done & the lab said 'looks like Holga'...that was pretty depressing. For some reason I have insisted on struggling with running 220 thru it, hand counting exposure & black taping it repeatedly. I'm considering Flutot's for a CLA.
