My Moskva 5 has the usual sticky speeds below 25th. I have left the job for ages because the lens assy isn't square to the film plane.
I have contemplated this for ages, trying to figure out which part to bend "back" to correct it. In the end, I decided that bending anything would be the end of the camera, so I set about running a few test films through it to check for leaks etc which could be corrected at the time of stripping. A leak through the red window was corrected (black tape over it!) and the rangefinder set up, that's it.
Over the holiday period I removed the lens assembly and was delighted to find the simple cause of the mis-alignment. The assembly looks to have been mounted on the plate without any gasket or spacers. This caused the screw-in peg, which stops the assembly from rotating, to "bottom" in its recess, holding off the lens at one side. I am very happy!
So, now I can go ahead with the service of the shutter. does anyone know of a guide to servicing this shutter?

This excellent shutter is very similar to a compur shutter. May I suggest Googleing "Compur Shutter" and "Compur Rapid Shutter". There are a few sites which go into some detail. It helped me.
Moskvas can be really good cameras, once all the bugs are out. (sometimes "bugs" literally)

If you are stuck, let me know and maybe I'll open one of my shutters and send images.

Much luck,

Vincent

Thanks for that. with your post, I realised that it would be the same as the shutter on the Super Ikonta. It's the removal and rebuild of the extra parts that could be a problem. Into the shutter, i just need to rinse out with lighter fluid.
