It goes to show that nostalgia is a weird and potent aphrodisiac.

Aphrodisiacs have little effect when suffering from hernias caused by lugging around motor drives.

Nikon F2A with MD-2/MB-1 Servo motor and 300/4.5 is around 6 pounds. Not too heavy.
A Nikon D5 with the same lens is not much less weight.

The only time I really really needed the motor on the F2.
Of course, it is also very useful at parties and concerts.

Looks like I'm in this club. I just got back from from Colorado with my FE2 and MD12. (Yes, of course I had several Leicas along, too!) I like the MD12 on my FE2 and my FM3a for the same reasons everyone just mentioned. And it makes it much easier to use a heavier lens.
