Have any of the members from the North Country been out this year? We've been blessed/cursed (it's been pleasant but another bad drought year) with lovely sunshine and temps in the mid forties (fahrenheit🙂) so I took the scooter out for a run today. Just to keep this on-topic I did have a Contax I stuffed in one pocket.

Oh, it felt good to be out. I thought about heading south a ways...south like Arizona or New Mexico...then maybe make a left turn over towards Louisiana and down to Florida. We are supposed to get three days of snow starting tomorrow -- that was my reality check!
 
It's definitely not moyorcycling weather here near Toronto! There's a winter sorm warning for tomorrow fternoon and evening. There was one year about 4 years ago where, due to unseasonably warm weather days, I was able to ride at least 1 day during every month of the year. But that was freakish, and a couple of those rides were more to keep the streak going and to someday, like now, be able to tell someone about it.

I hear you, Frank. As nice as it was today I'm still thawing out my fingers and toes! More to say I did it, I guess. Last year in March we actually did some touring out of here and down into Nevada, it was in the 70s then during the day -- still gets wicked cold at night here.
 
I put a new license plate sticker on my Honda 750 Nighthawk S last week and caused a snowstorm the next day. RFF content: I'm looking at a Leica IIIf while I type this.

Movie "Sideways"

I've been riding all the local roads the past couple of days that were in the movie "Sideways". The weather has been in the 60's F. I'd have an awful hard time up in the North country where you guys live. I can ride most days in the Santa Barbara area, so I feel for you all. Of course I'm awful jealous in the Summer when It's beautiful up there. I've ridden a bunch of the roads in the Western US and Canada, and nothing beats the North in nice weather.

Tsk, tsk. Another horrible 50+ day, with sunshine here - LOL. We are scheduled to get a couple days rain this week, sigh.
 
Most winters I get a day here and a day there to ride, but not this year. This winter has been cold around here. Snow has been on the ground for a couple of weeks, with a lot more coming tomorrow. I don't ride unless it's 50 deg F out. Most P.D.s don't ride at 39 F or lower. At that temp, you can still get patches of ice in shady dips in the roadway.

I should guessed you were a boxer guy. I've had several of them and love them. In the other part of my life I run a motorcycle touring company and ride a BMW K1200LT because its such a great LD bike. Basically, I spend six months a year leading motorcycle tours and six months a year as a professional photographer. Could have used a nice ride today. Did have a great afternoon X-C skiing with my daughter instead.

Hi Frank,

It sounds good but it really amounts to a lot of time working at a computer for both businesses. In a typical day I've got pictures open in Photoshop, a motorcycle tour inquiry on the phone and a pile of other work waiting for me when those two things are done. (So I distract myself with forums like this from time to time <G>). The time I spend actually riding or making pictures is great but the office type stuff takes a lot of time. BTW, my airheads were a R75/6 and R100RT.

That is an advantage. Motorcyles and cameras are work tools around here so there's never any debate about buying them. My wife has worked on the tours with me and wants to start working as an assistant for some of the shoots. If anything, we'll need to spend more $$ for her camera gear. The other thing is that I married one of those rare women who doesn't henpeck over much of anything. It's very much a live and let live family.

Oh, my wife is actually very good about it all as well. I actually had a downpayment on one 3 years ago, but we put the money into our adoption (our 3 year old boy is from Vietnam) and it's only a rare moment like this thread that I miss it even slightly. I've got my Kievs, I've got a delightful family and I've got enough work to keep me honest; that'll do quite nicely. A Bonnie _would_ be nice as there is nothing on this planet that sounds quite like a vertical twin, but all I'd need to do is walk upstairs and watch him sleeping for 30 seconds and the desire passes. Then I start wondering just how much available darkness I have... 😀
