Motorcycling Above the 45th Parallel?

Sidecars.

Sidecars.

I've ridden sidecar rigs a bunch but in mostly smiling weather, well one blizzard and a few hail storms. I have talked with several guys who ride all year in the North but they can tolerate the cold better than me, I guess with snowmobile suit you could do OK. A sidecar is really fun in the rain and snow. You can power slide around corners.

2 wheels move the spirit
I like that. Alot.
It should be two more months here, as well. The drought and mild weather in this region is not good -- snowpack is extremely low again this year. The storm that was predicted for today did not materialize -- looks I'll be riding again later this week as the temperature is supposed to hit 50.

I would love to try a sidecar sometime -- rider or passenger, no matter. Looks like it would be fun. Some guys travel with them solo for the extra load space, and probably because they just like sidecars.

I've had two Hannigan chairs on my LT and enjoyed them. Used them when my daughter was younger.

I first started with hacks when my son was 8 years old. I realized I couldn't get away on trips unless he went with me, so a hack worked great. He could nap, listen to books on tape and music. We traveled and camped like that for 8 years, then he became too "mature" to do that anymore. I pulled the hack off but I think about putting it back on. Different kind of ride but still fun, great for camping. Throw all the gear in and go.

Here's a shot of us at Lolo Summit in Idaho.

Wellll, down here in what used to be sunny Arizona on the Mexico border - been nasty cold and rainy for two months - Saturday I rode my '04 Honda 599 (made by Honda of Italy and known in Europe as Honda Hornet) for a spin on some twisty roads (concentrates the mind) and today I rode my 1975 Hodaka 100cc two stroke around on desert cow trails, stopping to chat now and then with the occasional Mexican "illegal immigrant."

Of course, in each instance I carried an RF camera, Oly XA on the Honda - it's old and needs a smoother ride - and of course on the Hodaka dirt bike the indestructible Yashica T4 Super (well, so it's not an RF, but I wasn't about to take my delicate, lovely, Yashica GSN).

(I have owned, in BMW, R50. R100RS. A Moto Guzzi T3, a Triumph Trophy, and a Bultaco 200cc Metralla road bike. If I continued to list all the bikes I've had you would confirm that I have a disease.

On a fresher note, my new Bessa R is in the mail.
