So far it's working great on my Mac mini and MacBook Air 11" (both 2011 models). Adobe programs needed a Java update, but now they are working fine for my everyday tasks: Illustrator, Photoshop, Lightroom, browsing, etc.
Everything feels a little slicker and smoother than Lion.
Which MacBook do you have, Joe? I found this:

I have it and to be honest, don't notice any significant differences really.

The changes seem minimal but I like the changes the made. Sorry you can't use it back alley but you're not missing a substantial change (more of a tweak).
FWIW, it's been working flawlessly thus far (knock wood) on my i7 iMac (2009) and 13 inch Macbook Pro (2009).

Sometimes there's a delay in availability of updated drivers for new O/S releases (and driver support is occasionally dropped altogether) - anyone had any issues with printers, scanners, other peripherals?

Nope, not I.

As I use Nikon Scan to run my 8000ed I need an OS that runs Rosetta and so it's Snow Leopard for me.

I upgraded from Snow Leopard.
Hardware:
Everything works fine without any driver update.
Plustek OpticFilm 7400, Epson V600, Wacom Intuos 4
Software:
VMware Fusion 3 is disabled by Mountain Lion. (This is a known issue, maybe.)
Any other software (Photoshop CS3, Lightroom 3, VueScan and more) works fine.

Been using this since beta. It is awesome. I am no teenager tho!
So iMessage for iOS users and Google Voice + GrowlVoice for others, I can do all SMS from my Mac and it's a major time saver.
Oh and in case someone missed it, you can access Notification Center by 2-finger left swipe from right edge of trackpad.

I thing I will never upgrade to this stuff. Only new features for social media addicted people. Don't need a dictate function. I'm seriously considering windows again. Don't like the direction Apple is going.

Working great on my late-2010 MBA. I love the notifications.
I still, however, despise the elimination of Save As from native apps that happened in Lion. I find the new versioning concept very, very frustrating, and am extremely attached to my folder system.

Have you seen Windows 8 ? - As far as I know they are going in the same direction - like it or not.

What version of MacBook do y ou really have? I have the first aluminum 13" version (non Pro, late 2008) - and I definitely can buy it (did you yet, but the App Store look like I could). Which OSX do you have now? You must be at least on Snow Leopard to be able to buy OSX via App Store. I had to buy Snow Leopart to get Lion too.

Anybody using Aperture on Mountain Lion? I updated to latest release, but I'm still on Lion.

Windows 8 will not answer those objections.
I just hate that my still-beefy 2007 Mac Pro won't run it.
