Is there is sub-forum here for movie cameras (amateur) ?
I have seen that Film Photography Project is offering 8 mm film / processing services, and I am interested in experimenting with this...
If not here at RFF, are there any relevant forums someone can direct me to ?
Right now, I have two Revere 8 mm cameras I would plan to use, one is an Eyematic with auto-aperture and a three-lens turret.
Thanks,
LF

Movie Cameras ?
This is interesting to follow.
I have my Dad’s 16mm Revere movie camera and Keystone projector and an unopened magazine of Kodachrome 64 I believe.
I also have some empty 16mm magazines but never thought to load and shoot with the camera.
Be interested if anyone here is shooting motion film.
It was always a special evening when Dad set up the screen and projector (remembering the sounds and smells of the equipment and film) and we watched home movies. Sometimes he would do a quick splice when the film broke.
Quite a different aesthetic from iPhone videos although my iPhone 11 takes decent quality videos.

Cameras. I has it.
As a very young kid, 11 years old, I saved small coins for six months to buy an 8mm movie camera (which I still have today). From that I learned about exposure, depth of field, etc.
Although several of my ciné cameras are “double 8mm” (including a nice Revere) and one is a magazine 16mm Kodak from the late 1940’s, I’m hoping to get my Bolex 160 Macrozoom working - I bought it at a camera show and its motor appears to be dead.
My Holy Grail would be a 16mm Bolex Rex with 400ft magazines.

My father was an avid amateur movie maker and treated us all to being filmed throughout my childhood. My uncle was also. I got the gene from them and desperately wanted to do movies when was in high school and college ...
After pounding my way through a lot of 5 minute shorts and a couple of mid-length 10-15 minute efforts, I gave up. I didn't have the financial resources to deal with it, or the patience to work with the five other people necessary as well. I stuck to still photography and let go of the Bolex H16 Rex and the Beaulieu 4008ZMII.
I often think: If a digital video camera and an iMac with iMovie had existed in 1971, my life could have gone a completely different way. One of these days I'll get back into it... and I will do it all digital.
I still enjoy doing short clips and such. This one from New Years Day 2018 on the Isle of Man remains one of my favorites: Rainy, Lazy Day.
All done on the same iPad Pro 11" I'm typing on now, using the "8mm Camera" app and "Reel Director" for editing.
