Definitely in Europe, the 35mm lens was my favourite and most used focal length. I'll have to see if this was due to the type of holiday pictures that I was taking, of if my taste is changing. Up until now, here in NA, I was using 50mm most often in order to crop out the blandness. Perhaps Europe is just prettier and more interesting, requiring a wider lens. We'll see what happens. If it's me that's changing, I'll be in a bit of a bind with my 0.85 M6 whose 35mm frames I can't see all of, with glasses on.

Could it also be that Europe is simply more crowded & densely populated than most of North America, hence the need for a wider lens to capture the action (kind of the opposite of Cartier-Bresson's preference)? I often find myself switching to wider lenses when shooting in urban environments, wherever that might be (NYC, Shanghai, whatever).

As I get older, I use the 50 more and more -- even on the M8 where it's a 67 equivalent. It's age as well as location (and probably lots of other things as well, such as the 50 is closer to the 75, which is my second choice on film after 35 and I don't have a fast 24 = 32).
