Moving to Mac - what processing software?

I keep seeing this reference... "upgrading" to a Mac.

That's a "cross platform" move, not an upgrade. Moving to Windows 10 is an upgrade from a previous Windows platform.

How is moving from a 90% market share in personal computers, to a 10% share get factored into anyones logic as an upgrade anyway?

The wonderment of it all?

Two anti-Mac trolls in one thread. What, did Steve Jobs kill your cat?

I noticed that too ... and also saw it as trolling! Over the years here there has been film V digital, Leica verses the rest, SLR V rangefinder and of course Apple V Windows.

The oxygen thieves who drum this stuff up amaze me ... surely energy can be better spent! :D

So by analogy: Leica has a small market share and... oh never mind.

Thanks for reminding me about this software ... sometimes I forget that I now have a Mac and can use it for Sigma files. No windows version available unfortunately. I read some reviews and gets a good rap so I may give it a shot. :)

You can run it in trial mode to give it a shot. It is very well done and you can batch a bunch of X3F files easily and quickly with it.

If you do try Iridient with the Sigma be sure to try out the X3F based monochrome mode. It isn't in the normal monochrome tab. Under the Detail Tab for Raw Process select Foveon Monochrome XDR.

BTW, since you have a Mac and a Sigma make sure you install the X3F utilities at:

http://www.corpus-callosum.com/software/

It will make the Mac Finder show you previews for all your X3F files directly. No need to open them in any other program (or also shoot JPG) to see what they are, the icon will show you the actual picture and if you select it and hit space it will open up a bigger window to show you the file.

One more thing to add to your todo list.... RPP64.

It is meant strictly to convert from RAW to TIFF/JPEG and the interface takes a little getting used to. However, its colors and film simulations are beautiful. It is also donation ware. Try it for free with no watermarks or anything like that. If you like it you make a donation and they unlock the lightroom integration functionality. Don't download from their site as the later versions are posted on the support forum.

I just updated my software as I had a bit of a mish mash going on.
I've gone for El Capitan with photoshop and lightroom Cc, the Nik package and added Huelight camera profiles. Dumped Capture One, never got on with it and kept Capture NX2 for my Nikon pics.
