Hello,
Would like to buy a MP black paint or M6TTL LHSA.

1. The price is about the same, just wondering which one will you choose and why.

2. Is the viewfinder of M6TTL LHSA same as normal M6TTL?

3. Does MP viewfinder better?

4. Hear that MP viewfinder can easily get some dust inside, what about M6?

Many thanks.

personally, i think the m6ttl lhsa is way overpriced. That's just me. I would never pay that much for it.
With that being said, I agree with Roger and peter.

So far I have managed to resist both in favour of a 0.58 TTL and a 0.58 M7. I value the 0.58 finder over any and all commemorative and/or special editions, not excluding the MP.

On the other hand if I *did* see a reasonably priced *black* 0.58 MP then I'd probably jump at it. I always thought dropping the standard production 0.58 variants in a crime against humanity, or at least the glasses wearing part of humanity.... 🙂

What peter and Roger said:

Unless you need TTL flash metering or want the shutter dial to rotate in the M7/M8/M9 direction, the MP is:

Smaller
Built like a tank
Better VF
Quieter shutter

I bought M6s to back up my MPs and for additional bodies and the VF flare on the M6s is a noticeable prob shooting indoors with windowlight etc. The 0.72 is much better than the 0.85, but still it flares, tho not as completely i.e. you can still focus just the patch loses loads of contrast. With the 0.85 the MP VF is so much better than I will definitely upgrade my 0.85 M6 VF. I have had too many occasions when I cannot focus AT ALL.

I shoot mine in Afghanistan and have done so in dust storms and although I have some dust in the MP VF (one being unsealed) its no bother. It can wait however many years until I have a CLA.

Talking from experience (reliability) , the M6TTL every time over the MP but the MP looks much better on top of a coffee table (and has the better VF) .... 😎🙂

as for reliability, personal experiences might not stack up against the complete production picture.

I have three MPs and two M6s and thankfully all have been fine. I am sure you would find some who have had terrible trouble with TTLs and other more trouble with MPs. Individually we are not a statistically significant sample.

TTL's: Some people love them, some people hate them. I personally think they are great. Though, as stated above, the price seems a little high for a lhsa.

I started a thread on this topic a few months ago. I received some very comprehensive answers and information. If you want some more information that thread should be located somewhere. Also, look at the camera quest website^^

I bought my LHSA in 2000 new - I cannot understand why they now cost as much as an original BP M4 (used and probably worn, but still !) I had a few troubles with my M6 - it was a joy to use though. Ended up selling it and now have a BP M4, which is what I wanted all along. Paid less for it than I would have for another LHSA model. Only two negatives I could say about the M6, one was the flare issue. The other - it came out of the box with a stiff take up mechanisim. Sent it off to Sherry - she CLA'd it and it was buttery smooth for 5 years.

To more directly answer your original question - I would choose the M6 over the MP because of the easy rewind knob. It never made sense to me, why folks buy MP's or M2's for that matter - and install the rewind crank attachment. I once had an M2 which had been really, really worn. The area around the rewind knob was polished (almost like a mirror). That's alot of cranking !

As for size? Turtle mentioned that the MP was smaller - I've never held one - I was always under the impression that all the M1,M2,M3,M4,M6,M7,MP bodies were pretty much exactly the same size....maybe I need to do some reading on that.

Whatever camera you end up on deciding on - when you get it - take it out everywhere and shoot, shoot, shoot!
