MS, Apple and IV team up to buy Kodak Patents ?

We already knew they would have to sell their patents so right now this is neither good nor bad news. At least that's what it seems like to me.

Extremely bad news to me if those are going to companies that have no background in photography at all and very little real inovation. The only way they grow is by buying up others and pose it off as their own.

We're talking about technology patents here and I assume that if those companies buy them they must be relevant for their products. I don't think it really matters for the future of Kodak what kind of companies these patents go to.

I'm not saying that any of this is good news, I'm just saying that it was known for a long time that they were looking to sell patents so this is nothing new. It's just part of the bad news we've heard before.

I guess those tech patents are about all Kodak has left that is of any real value to other companies so they gotta go. Like Jamie says, it really doesn't matter to who so long as the cash is there. They may get lucky and get a bidding war going.

Yup! Apple. Now there's a company that has no clue about photography. And sure as hell doesn't know how to innovate. I guess you must be one of those "internet experts".

"companies that have no background in photography"

Apple is certainly among the top five camera companies in the world today, in terms of units shipped per year.
