MS Optical Super Triplet Perar 3.5/35 Mark II now available

That is really quite amazing, and I'd never heard of these before. So small, and yet they managed to keep it under $1000 US! If I had a leica and the money for one I would be very tempted...

Just got word it's shipping tomorrow.

Cambolt, yea from what I've heard from owner's...the build quality is outstanding. And they have a very unique signature in the images I've seen

I haven't received mine yet. Not sure if that is due to production or the Canada Post letter carrier strike/lockout ;(

Mine arrived in Vancouver on Thursday, number 309. From the tracking information it was delayed about a week by the postal lockout.

I have v1 of this lens and I love it, and have taken some of my favorite shots with it. I find it somewhat astounding, that a lens so small can be such an incredible performer. Makes me wonder about the 35mm Summilux I mount, in all its comparitive bulk.

Yes, it is very nice and small. As to "under $1000, I would certainly hope so, for a slow Japanese 35mm. I would hope it would be under $400. I didn't see the price. What does this lens have to offer, compared to, say, the 2.8 Summaron, or the 3.5 CV, both of which are well under $1000? They talk about the seven Seidel aberrations being corrected, but the Summaron, Summicron, Skopar, and a bunch of others do that. I do like its compactness when collapsed. It makes even the M8 seem just about pocketable--in a slightly large pocket, of course.

It will be good to some examples and user reports posted when folks receive their copies. Perhaps it has some very special signature properties that will make some of us sign up.

It's ¥59,900, say US$750 or €540 according to their website. Not too expensive for such a lens, although we Europeans will have to pay import duties adding to a total of €750 at least. I won't exchange it for my Summaron.

collum - great shots!

Mine, #330, finally arrived. The Canada Post stirke/lock-out played a part in its delay.

I noticed on the mount it looks like they grinded it down, I'm assuming to pull up the 35mm framelines. But it is unpainted and a bit sloppy looking. Is this the same for everyone?

First impressions:
Easier to focus than I anticipated. Even with a case on; some trouble, but I didn't think I'd be able to leave the case on at all.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, you should set aperture first, then focus as the focus moves when I try to adjust aperture.

It IS tiny. And the back and front caps take some skill to removed.

Can't wait to shoot with it!
