multifunction scanner negative scans

Hi I'm new to the forum,

Has anybody had any decent results scanning negatives on a multifunction scanner I'm considering a epson artisan 710 for the time being due to my hp 2410 completely failing on me. I can't afford a super nice neg flat bed or deticated negative scanner I just want something that can do the job decently doesn't have to be AMAZING.

I think you are better off getting an epson 4490. Should be around the same price or perhaps even less expensive.

The artisan 710 is not a negative scanner, right? For the same price you can get a V500 refurb or a 4490 new.

well space constraints i'd like to find a decent multifunction i was also looking at the canon pixma seriees i saw that the 800 did negative and slide scanning. Wondering if anybody had an experience with these.

that epson 4490 is a possibility but i need a basic printer too ergo multifunction

I have the HP G4050 flatbed. It doesn't scan 35mm negatives well, but does fine for scanning photos. I haven't tried it on MF negatives or 35mm slides.

I picked up a dedicated Plustek 7300 last week and for my own "recreational" use is excellent for B&W and colour. Only thing is that its a manual feed scanner, so if you're scanning hundreds of negative strips, that might be a deal breaker.
