Music for Photography

oohhh...The Mars Volta through my Grado headphones sounds sweet! But i don't listen to music and photograph at the same time very often. I find it's a hit and miss thing on how well it works for me...

now that's good distraction! I think that's why I'm opting for simpler stuff in the darkroom, not to get too caught up in the music even printing. Grados would invite everyone in on it, too!

I love The Clash through Alessandro MS-1s. In the darkroom, though, it's either Sennheiser MX500s or Koss PortaPros, since I usually walk there.

ugh ... the pangs of a lost addiction are coming back! must fondle cameras instead ...

Ha, fellow head-fier, who'd have know headphone better. I'm free of upgraditis but got the GAS here. i've already sold my HD-580 and ASL amp, just keeping my Grado SR-60 and my beloved Etys ER4s.

I knew there had to be other head-fiers -- there were way too many photo threads in the members' lounge. I rarely check in there anymore, except to see if anyone posts a WTB for HD25-1s or a Porta Corda II with Plainviews. I'd hate to see them go, but I'm eyeing up another lens ... (and I just checked for 'rangefinder' -- 19 posts)

I have the Xin ohm adapter if you want to trade for some filters 😀

I do have an FM radio in the darkroom, with the illuminated dial covered. I never carry any musical device with me, photographing or not. I need to pay attention to my surroundings. I understand, though, that some studio photographers carefully choose music to set a mood for models.

Playing music while shooting (which I've done plenty) seems to have a negative and a positive effect. I love shooting with music, Im very much affected by music and it can really lift my mood. But it also adds a state of mind / mood to whateven I see. This is great. Except for the fact that it doesn't show on the photo.... 🙁 Maybe having a print with built in music would be an idea???

I do have my iPod on while shooting (but not all the time).

At best, it shields me from the environment and isolates me from the street. It gives me confidence to get up close to people to shoot them on the street. Odd right?

At worst, I get all tangled up in cables and I miss out on the audio cues of the street.
