Just need to share my good fortune: Philadelphia Photographic is the only lab I know of in the area that still does E-6 in house, but unfortunately for me, they're only open mon-fri until 5:30.. and I work until 5 during the week in Wilmington, DE. So it's always a hassle to try and find a way to get there or at least get my film there. But wednesday I got off work at 1 for a doctor's appointment and then rushed to the city to drop off my film. My plan was to drop off my two rolls for processing and to pick them up on monday, when I had off, but as I walk up to the door, I see their sign that reads, "Philadelphia Photographic will be closed from 12/26/2011-1/2/2012. Reopening on 1/3/2012." Now a little sad about the potential wait, I walked up the stairs to the desk and told them I needed to drop off two rolls for processing, expecting not to have them back for two weeks.. The guy looks at me with a big smile and says, "You're in luck! We just processed a batch; The machine's still running.."

An hour later I walk back up the stairs to my two rolls of Provia 400X, processed and sleeved for me, ready to scan! ;)

Congrats on a good break. I don't know where in Wilmington you work. If it's downtown, Colourworks is within walking distance, and they still do E-6 as well as C-41 and conventional B&W processing. Nice folks too. Here's the URL:

I wish you great shooting for the holidays.

Oh wow, I had no idea! I work at A.I. Dupont.. I'm going to have to check them out.. Thank you! :D

You could drive down from A.I. at lunch. I often drop off and pick up after work. They are open until at least 5:30. It'll be on the website. I forgot to mention that they still do all of their work on site. One of the owners told me that they are still doing a lot of E-6, probably because so many others aren't.

Thanks so much for the heads up! My next roll will be going to them. Do you know, by chance, if they push slides also? I like to shoot Provia at 3200..

I don't know if they can push. I've had them do some slides, but mostly now I am shooting black and white and scanning myself. I'm pretty much digital for color, although I've got a lot of c-41 and e-6 film in the freezer still. I still use Colourworks for 6x6 stuff though, because I don't have a scanner that will handle that. They have either a Hasselblad or Imacon that they use for custom scans (which are mind-blowing) and can do full rolls off of the film processing machines much cheaper than the Imacon jobs. As an added bonus, their reception area is a gallery for local work and often displays some talented stuff.

I have no connection with them; just a customer.

Awesome! Thanks for all the info. I have been shooting almost only Tri-X and scanning myself because I'm too impatient to wait two weeks for slides to be sent out and processed.. but now that this is an option, I'll be shooting a lot more color. I'll just have to give them a call :)
