Must Have Rangefinder Accessories

The only "accessories" I have and need are a strap, yellow & red filters, cable release and a Ultrapod.

Yeah, I must agree that a yellow or green filter for shooting B&W is a must-have.

Depends what sort of photos you're taking of course, but for me, the only accessory which I consider a must-have is a tripod. It really does depend on what you're doing though.

Your goal is of course paramount.

However Sunshade, Lenscaps, Filters and Tripods and cable realese. In my bag I keep a Log for notes too, a few Lenses, spare Film and a Camerabody for colour too. I carry my stuff in a shoulder bag, table tripod inside and big tripod outside. YMMV

Things that I like are UV-filters for your lenses, hoods, table tripod (very useful, get also a cable release) and a water proof camera shoulder bag or back-back which not look like a expensive camera bag!

Can't afford something?...just save up/sell off/sacrifice something else...the point is...do what YOU want.

Life is too short...it is later than you think so enjoy yourself.

How about Viewfinders? Leica Meters? Hoods? and so much more planned...

If YOU like accessories, do what YOU want...that is what I do.

One day I may follow in the footsteps set by Cal (calzone) and get a Louie!!!😀

Can only relate what I use:
Filters, lens hoods, light meter, tripod and cable release on occasion, discrete bag, *film*, and yes, a soft release. I used softies on my SLRs back when they were my primary gear, now I have a softie on my M cameras, but not on any of my other rangefinders. Seems to be M specific for now. That's about it for needed accessories.
Oh, one more. When out shooting with barnacks, I keep a small folding pair of scissors in a film cannister, in my bag. I trim leaders on a "need to trim" basis.

I agree, get what you want. Personally, I don't really like accessories, I worry about losing them etc. I do like my clip on VC II meter though, so small, and now I can buy any camera without wondering if I want/need a meter.

Accessories? A clip to accept my wrist or neck straps, a UV filter (or orange), and a lens cap, then we're done.

That said, i did buy some cheap hotshoe blanking plates recently.

Mention of the cheap hotshoe blanking plates reminded me that I needed a Nikon AS-1 hot shoe adapter for the F so I can use my RF triggers with it.

I feel like pretty much anyone who wants to protect their investment needs either a clear filter on their lens at all times and/or a lens hood, I'm finding. I had a camera of mine take a serious fall the other day and bounce on concrete and I swear the thing that kept my Jupiter-8-1 from getting hurt was the metal, off-brand hood I leave on it at all times. The Zorki got some scrapes on one side, but the hood acted like a roll cage.

I usually stick a UV filter on the end of my lenses. I also carry a cable release, travel tripod, and extra film in a basic camera bag. The lens cap is attached to the camera with a tether and the hot shoe is filled with a protector. Occasionally I carry a small meter when I'm shooting with my meterless TLRs.

similarly, soft releases can damage your camera too.

I don't understand. I've used soft releases on my Nikons for 30 years, and have suffered no damage. I do like the sharper photos though.
