I've picked up my first few rolls of film taken with my M3. I think I'm in love with a rangefinder. Digital? Digital what?

thanks Back Alley and Rover. I took a guess at exposure on the bus. I think I'm getting the hang of focusing this baby although it's tough in low contrast/low light.

You've got the right tools; now, soup your own film! You'll never go back.

400TX and HC110, and Bob's your uncle, you're addicted. Nice image, by the way.

Cheers,

I don't shoot film, but I do shoot RF. And I'm also in the throws of a deep love affair. Upgrading my DSLR now and then didn't give the same thrill, not by a long shot.

Good start, more please!

I second joe (planetjoe) 's advice to develop your own b+w. In due time...

have fun in the meantime.

Thanks folks. I find I'm having to up the contrast quite a bit in LR. I've got a med. yellow filter on it's way so hopefully that will help.

What I've noticed is that I'm much less caught up in the pixel counting/is it sharp enough game and much more into the feeling of the shot, the mood, the story which is what photography should be about.

If you decide to develop your own, you can adjust the contrast through different development processes (agitation, mostly).

In fact, the lab is probably not tailoring the developer to the film at all. Unless you are using a B&W C-41 film, of course. I have never tried those, so I don't have a clue about them.

Your images have a rich, wonderful feel to them re: content and aesthetics. I've shot 35, medium and large format film all of my life. Within the past two years I've been shooting digital exclusively. Personally the "magic" of the medium dissipated. I shoot digital professionally, but when it comes to my personal work I'll never give up film. The "magic" is back 🙂 .

Here are some latest shots with some improvement in technique. I'm still having to up the contrast in PP, waiting for a med. yellow filter on its way to me from a member here. C&C would be great.

You are getting better and better with your technique! i love the grain!

Congratulations. There's nothing like seeing the prints from your first roll of film. Good work.

By the way, what film and lens were you using?
