My 2 year long project - A documentary on an English new city

Hi Vicky,
I really enjoyed looking at the preview you posted. Sounds like you're a bit of a glutton for punishment!
Let me know if you have any displays in our neck of the woods, would be nice to see the work in situ.

I find most things to do with Prince Charles have that effect! :D

I suppose this much is true! As I say I shan't say too much more, I don't want to needlessly offend but put it this way -- I'm not one for preserving absolutely everything in aspic. I'll leave it there.

It is looking good Vicky, do crack on and get it finished, such good work deserves to be 'out there'.

Thanks Chris, it is more or less there bar the book which is currently being worked on quite intensively.

Thanks, I am a glutton for punishment -- life's too short so I had better do these things whilst I have the energy! I'll let you know about local bits and pieces -- I'll be sure to do something in Sussex!

Thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed your preview. THe one photo that jumped out and made me think "oh, wow" was the little child opening the gate and looking back. Bravo.

Thanks! The photo of Morgan was a real chance, I had kindly been allowed to photograph the whole family (their picture will appear in the book) and as I was packing up Morgan was playing with the gate as young kids do.

It's a very symbolic picture for me, and I won't spoil it by saying this, to me, it's the gateway to the city.

The penultimate picture of the book will be:

The miles unfurl no more by Vicky Lamburn

I returned to photograph this sign in slightly better light in October as it is a shade too much in shade, but it has gone. It was the last of the original city boundary marker posts. It matches well with the opening picture after the foreword.

The final picture is of the gate closed at night...

Today I received the first colour proof copy of the book, albeit only 1/8th of the unabridged edition but it's very exciting:

Monkeying About, a Historic Moment (for me)
