My 4 month old M7 broke! Help!

I had this happen a couple of weeks ago on my M6. Sent it to DAG for a complete CLA since he had to take it apart to fix it anyway. It happened when I was shooting at 1/1000 sec. Shutter break jammed up somehow. DAG got it back to me smooth as glass and has been working great since. Stuff happens on these mechanical cameras, good news is it is usualy something that needs adjustement and no new parts are typically required. Hope you get your camera back quickly!

Will Leica cover this under warranty or will you be stuck with a bill?

They will cover it. It's a very generous warranty. Basically you can do the stupidest things with the camera and they will fix it for free. You can extend the standard 3 year US Passport warranty to 5 years for $120 any time in the first 3 year period. I'll probably extend mine.

Its under warranty as its 4 months old. They will still send me a work order/qoute before fixing it? In the mail? Seems odd that they just woulo dnot fix it and return it. But in any case, Im fine with it as Im sure once it gets back it will be good for a while!

I sent it today via Next Day Air insured so they should get it tomorrow. I included a letter explaining the problem and situation. I already miss the thing as I was using just about every day!

and actually, being that my wife TOLD me to get an MP and I would have a year to pay it off without any interest I went ahead and did it. Now Ill have an M7 and MP and Ill hold off a good while for the M8. I was more excited about getting an MP than and M8 actually.

Leica still has the M7 - They called me the day they recieved it and its been 9 days so far. They told me 2-3 weeks.
