I found this Rolleicord at the flea market today for 5 bucks. It was somewhat dirty. I'm still cleaning it but everything is working and the shutter speeds sound good. As you can see the leather is in bad shape but I'll be cutting new leather for it soon.

One question though: On the opposite side of the m,x,v switch (4:00 position) is a 2 position lever. One way covers a red dot and the other uncovers it. What does this lever do?

In the red-dot-covered position it prevents double exposures.

Congratulations on your find. Please post some pictures when you have run some film through it.

I think I have the exact same version, its Rolleicord V. Except I paid like $100. :) Its a great camera, enjoy it.

Thanks for the info..

I plan to run some film through it as soon as I get it cleaned up.

I understand the SK Xenar75mm f/3.5 lens is a quality lens..

Serial number search indicates this is a Rolleicord V..

I've found conflicting reports on the lens coating. Some say it is uncoated while others say it is coated.

This one has the blue look as though it is coated..

I notice it has got the difficult to find accessory plunger release, even if the camera was totally u/s you could still have made a profit selling that on ebay!!!

SWEET! The shutter release button is worth more than what you paid for the entire camera. It looks like a Rolleicord IV. The lenses are definitely coated.

I will be placing a Freestyle order for film this evening and plan to shoot next weekend.

I was surprised to see the plunger still attached after several people looked at the camera before me.

Serial number search confirms that it is a Rolleicord V.

I removed the top to clean the ground glass and mirror and was surprised to see the mirror looked like new with no de-silvering or spotting of any kind. After cleaning the view is nice and bright..

Colyn,

I tend to leave the shutter release plunger off the camera for fear of losing it, originally the way to release the shutter is to push the tensioning lever to the left, but Rollei made that plunger accessory for those who preferred an upward push.

Hi Colyn,

I too have recently picked one of these "funny ugly thing" (as my wife puts it). Mine is in very clean condition but I am not going to pretend that I paid anywhere near what you did. It did come with the original orange/green/yellow filter kit, lens hood, original leather case, and a Weston Master II light meter.

Rather than jumping into a $1000+ MF setup, I thought I might give this 6x6 thing a try. I've only managed to run a roll of ASA 100 B&W film through it, but have not developed it yet. Please keep in touch and we can compare the output of the two :)

I currently have it safely put away so as not to loose it and will only use it on an as needed basis..

I plan to use it when my film arrives from Freestyle and will post.

Aki-Asahi makes a replacement front skin for the camera. Stu

I saw that.

I'm thinking about getting a kit from cameraleather.com since he can make the complete leather kit.
