I was obviously tongue in cheek, but I have seen people do such a thing, obviously the camera is falling in to the right hands, and you are already applying the attention the camera deserves.

Masking tape? The tape can take off chrome. I rescued some cameras and lenses from the local thrift shop, found a replacement rewind crank for the K1000, and passed it along. Am afraid the Mamiya 35mm lenses will remain orphans.

I am impressed the lenses look as good as they do, and the camera easily could have ended in someone's trash can. Shutter working is a definite plus, I used to look inside to see if there were marks in the paint from someone cleaning it from the back, pretty common.

I have an extensive collection scattered about in my obviously bachelor's house, and I have told my fiends if they lose contact, check the obits and attend the yard sale.

Good save and purchase, and you are saying he did not even toss in a few bricks of film? ;-)

I did some more cleaning on it today and plan to re-skin it with leather from cameraleather.com

I was surprised with the excellent condition of the lens as well as the working shutter.. Rollei quality....😛

The inside is clean with no evidence of tampering or mis-handling.

I wish...had to order some film from Freestyle..

I bought a Rollei hood today on eBay and had to pay more for it than I paid for the camera...😱

It may not really be mis-handling, the spanner often nicks the paint, and then it is just touched up, it does not affect the image of course, just may be an indication it had a CLA. CLA's on Rollie lenses should be quite reasonable if needed. The gears for focusing are a real challenge, and the leather has to come off the sides, the repairman has to bring his A game for that one.

Wait until you price a Rollei Lens cap. ;-)

I was lucky, I got a trade in at the shop where I worked, the owner is still a friend, he used to pass me accessories that came in to the store with trades,--- filters, lens hood, leather focusing hood -- really terrific if you find one. -- if you are patient the odd item will come your way. You can do a lot with less for a while. Camera shows are good places to check out.

I had a bit of trouble focusing and found a bright newer screen with a split image, but it needs to be carefully fitted and shimmed.

Enjoy your prize, you will like the square image and different perspective of a waist level camera.

Hi, I am new to this Forum and I have just discovered the outstanding world of the TLR. I was impressed by your find. I will have one delivered tomarrow by post of the a Rolleicord IV w/the works ie: 5 filters, a Rolleiflex flash attachment w/reflector, lens hood, case, manual and a part that I am not sure what it is and the fella I bought from on ebay could not tell me either. Anyhow, I sure did not get for $5.00, I paid $270.00 for the works and according to the guy this is a mint camera pluse extras. I have priced a lens hood w/case and two filters for almost as much, so even though I did not find the deal you did, I still feel pretty good about the purchase. I will post some photo's soon. Oh yea, I like 35mm rangerfinders too, but I love these TLR's. And for the rest of ya, I got the bug something bad.

When you see the red dot, it is possible to make multiple exposures. With the lever up, double exposure is prevented.

I made a VF brightener from a center piece of a flat magnifying sheet found in the bookstore. It makes the viewfinder much more useable - and for less than two bucks.

About ten years ago I inherited a Rolleicord III from an uncle, with the 75mm f3,5 Xenar lens and after having it serviced, it has performed admirably. The shutter still worked, but the viewing lens was out of sync with the taking lens, as nothing was focused where I wanted it to be.
I have made 16X20 and larger prints, and am often asked what I shot it with, as my prints are so sharp! Most are surprised when I tell them, but some just nod knowingly.
I must have put 200 rolls or more through it since, and am still using it.
I hope you enjoy yours as much I do mine.

According to the Rolleicord In Practical Use manual for the camera, this controls/prevents double exsposures! On page 4 of the manual it says when using the Rolleikin 2 or plate back: release double exsposure prevention lock. Quoted from manual, page 10: The film transport mechanism is equipped w/a double exposure prevention device. Shutter and film transport are thus locked (red dot) alternately so that correct order of the operating steps necessarily has to be : advance film, tension shutter, release shutter. Turning the film knob until stops (film lock) will advance the film one full frame, next shot number displayed. Shutter can be tensioned. After release, the operation of the inter-lock is reversed so that the shutter is locked until the film has been advanced again for the next frame. In this way double exsposures or blanks are neatly avoided. In special cases - when using the Rolleikin 2 or plate back - the double exsposure prevention lock must be released or else the shutter would be permanently locked. If engaged after the exposure, here is a really neat side effect for this lock, the lock will serve as an effective shutter release guard. When unlocked, intentional double or multiple trick shots on roll film are possible.😀

😀 I posted that I had bought one off of evil bay, when I received I have to admit I was as giddy as a kid at his first date, and for me that was many moons ago! Anyhow, what a beauty, was even better than the guy discribed and w/all kinds of high dollar goodies, you will find that out when you start looking for all the little extras. But what a deal, I stated before, on ebay right now is a set of filters w/hood and case for as much as I paid for the whole shoot'in match. I also purchased the extra big knob for the focus, that was very helpful. This was purchased from one of the classic camera sites on the inter-net, heck part of the fun is the detective work running these extra bits down. I am a bells/whistle guy, I got to have all the little tricks. I have to admit though one part is harder to find than the rest, so maybe someone can help, I am looking for the shutter release plunger, the fella w/the $5.00 deal got that w/camera. I let one go by me this weekend, had to purchase a wrecked TLR to get the part, camera still sold f/$75.00, too much to get that one part f/me. How about it, anyone out there has one you would like to part with. Thanks.:bang:
