I can't wait to try it out my viewfinder is perfect order even the case... The lens is a prewar uncoated elmar the black one It has a few light cleaning marks but I think it should be a great lens.... Hopefully I will shoot it this week.

Does anyone have any pointers on the parilex part of the viewfinder? :D

That's great, Skinny. Try to get a lens hood for the Elmar. It'll improve contrast significantly.

I don't know which finder you have but I usually focus, note the distance and then set the finder for that reading. Except for the 28mm Orion lens which requires one of the FSU Kiev finders, I use the Leitz Imarect. The Leitz finder has a nice parallax correction scale while the FSU unit is crude by comparison and difficult to set accurately.

BTW, Rock-a-Billy is one of my favorite music forms. Grew up with it and still think it's as good as there's ever been. Early Conway Twitty and Roy Orbison is some killer music..... no offense to "The Killer", Jerry Lee. :)

Yeah I love rockabilly to... check out our web sight www.skinnymcgee.com...

I have the same view finder it came in today in great shape.. Do you know if you have to compensate for the lens length like a stop or a third or what.

I have to post another thread to find out what the f stops are on the lens. some of them got rubbed off over time with the a36 filter i assume.. i have gotten use to the old f stop scale but the are some on this lens that are not on my 50mm Summar.

I posted the f stops on the other thread too, but a little repetition can't hurt:

4, 4.5, 6.3, 9, 12.5, 18, 25, 36

Thanks Lobster. i will let you know when I have some images.
