My best camera bag to date found at Target

It isn't leather. Will hold any camera or two. Comes in black or olive. And best of all...

It's found in the baby section at Target.

It's a diaper bag for $18 US. It's called the Midi Coordinate Diaper bag.

At Target.com it is called - Eddie Bauer® Mini Diaper Tote and it costs $19 US.

I can fit two cameras and a sandwich inside the main compartment, with a bottle of water in a side pocket.

The dimensions are 9"w x 10"h x 6.25"d. The dimensions posted online are wrong.

Actually It doesn't have dividers like a Domke. More like flat pockets on the inner wallls. But, if you wander off into another part of the store you can find small soft lunch bags (in black) made of nylon that will fit inside this bag.

I started out eyeing the lunch bags then sauntered over to the baby section and was suprised that I could find something that was not girly and looked purposeful.

Good tip! I found a lunch bag at the drug store with a top compartment meant for a soda. It is handy for a lens hood, extra filter, etc. The camera goes in the bottom compartment. It's well padded and doesn't look like it is carrying an expensive Zorki 🙂
 
I recently ran into a lady at Starbucks who was carrying that very same bag and as we were both stirring coffee, I asked her about it, explaining I was a photographer and was always looking for bags. She grinned, opened it up, and showed me her digital camera and showed where she stowed her cell phone. It's a very nice looking bag. She said she got hers at Toys 'R' Us, in the baby section.

That's funny - I've been using that bag as a camera bag for about six months. (Previously, I had used it as, well, a diaper bag.) I generally only have one camera and two lenses, so a Domke wrap is enough padding.

Nice, well-made, tough and cheap - one added benefit....no one, and I mean no one, steals diaper bags. Of course, it helps to have a diaper-wearer in tow to complete the look.
 
I was in a Walmart and in the car section found some neoprene bag-like things, fairly thin, that I think were intended to keep soda cans cool. Not the thick can holders. Anyway, Leica lenses fit in them fairly snugly, and provide just the right amount of extra padding inside a Domke.

I picked up a couple of those cheap black leather bags at walgreens, 2 for $10, but I wouldn't trust the handles, straps or zippers on them.
 
OK - Last time I'll pimp this diaper bag...

I took some photos this morning at work (I'm here way too early - had to drop off my step-son at the airport in the wee hours). Nothing else to do at the moment.

Three shots - 1. Bag - 2. Inside of bag - 3. Stuff that was inside the bag, minus a novel (Peter F. Hamilton - The Reality Dysfunction).

I still had room for a sandwich in a container and a bottle of water. The oddball plastic thing holding the FED 3 is half of a 1 gallon water container that I use to divide the two camera bodies to reduce scratching. (I will cover that later with something). The FED 3 looks a little odd because it has a Sekonic L-208 attached to the accesory shoe and a lens hood.

I think I did good for $18.

Hey guys,

I got one of these bags too. Put a Domke 4x divider in it. The divider fits without having to put any velco in the bag.

Works great! Currently has my Nikon 8008 and 3 lenses in it. Has an outside pocket for a notebook.

Thanks for the tip. I'm always on the lookout for new camera bags. I guess it's about time I start looking in the baby part of the store.

Why use a Domke wrap when you can use a Pampers? 😀
