We have all taken photos that we think are going to provoke comment, but get very little feedback . I know every image is subjective.
So I am putting this out there. Which photo in your gallery you felt sure to get a response/feedback of sorts....but got nothing or very little feedback .
This ones mine.

I'll give you my feedback. I think the truck half in the frame at the left is very annoying.

I think the better shot would have been further forward - to try to get up on height and picture the cranes isolated within the duststorm.

Would it have been possible to climb on top of the truck in the middle of the frame?

Thanks for the feedback scheelings`, but thats not what i am asking.
Sshow me photos that you thought would get a response but didn`t.
cheers johnno

I often post photos in the gallery that get little attention as in view count but they are a runaway train on Facebook which means different eyes have different likes obviously. The reverse also applies fairly regularly where an image that gets passed over at FB will have more appeal here at RFF because the audience has better perception of what constitutes a decent image ... hopefully!

The gallery is very formulaic in it's tastes IMO ... sometimes it's like feeding the chooks! 😀

The sky and the lit up machinery is beautiful. I feel like you have too much foreground. Would have been nicer to see more of that interesting sky and less of the empty parking lot.

I agree with this. I feel you nailed the exposure, in the way you captured the lights and machinery, but concur about the car and the foreground.

You have brought up a very important question, why is it that some images are praised and others are not? To be more precise, lets say in the forum context.

For one people like images that are similar to their own photos, obviously. Secondly people praise images that are produced using the type of gear that they use. And finally if you praise someone's photos, they're very likely to reciprocate out of politeness.

But why do you need praise or acknowledgement of your photos? Lack of confidence in your own work? Or overconfidence that people should praise your work?

Either way, your skill and 'vision' as a photographer is not going to increase or decrease by praise and criticism. So direct your energy on the thing that matters, taking more photos.
