There are some nice photos, but, IMO, the best one is on the cover. I anticipated more photos where the eyes were clearly the focal point of the shot.
Some of the shots get there (like pages 43, 47, 55), but the cropping for a lot leaves you with some blocked shadows and artifacts. Also, I think editing more aggressively could leave you with fewer, more powerful, shots.
I think it is a great title and good theme for a book - and would make a great project. Regarding the layout, it may be more interesting with some concise narrative of the shots - you have some older photos thrown in there that seem to me out of place; context could help. Or perhaps a standard left-right (verso-recto?) layout and a couple of double page shots(with the right shot) would be more attractive.
