Canon LTM My Canon 7 is engraved "CAMEPA" on the back

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Granit,
As far as I know there is no serial number database, this is something I have done a lot of research trying to find. From the few things I have seen I would recommend trying the canon rangefinder book. There was a website which apparently could help with this but it no longer exists. I remember the name on this forum being Peter something, hopefully someone wil know him as he apparently knows a lot about the canon RF system.

The little info I can give is that my serial number is 890531 and that was brought in 1963.

Hope my ramblings might be of help

Is there a serial no database? What year is this camera from? I know the range but I would like to figure out all the info I can.

Years ago, I kept a Canon 7 serial number database.

Production of the Canon 7 began with serial number 800001. The last serial number is around 942XXX. While Canon started to date code their cameras in 1960, the first date codes on the 7 popped up in 1964 (E). The mis-engraved camera in question was made late in 1964, or even early 1965.

Clearly the explanation for the anomaly is that James Bond, agent 007 was the owner of this one and wanted something out of the ordinary!:D

It's funny I didn't notice that it's a 007 edition until my friend pointed it out to me. I think this camepa is definitely a keeper!
