Hi all.

I just got a new 35/2.5 classic today. What a compact lens! The build quality is outstanding - better than my 35 Ultron. I'm looking forward to shooting with it and seeing the results.

One small nitpick- When I mount the lens on my Bessa R the center dot that lines up w/ the feet and meter markings doesn't quite line up at the 12 o'clock position. It would need to be turned just a bit further to line up. I tried it with a VC screw to M adapter and mounted it on my M6 - a little better but still not there.

Has anyone encountered this with their 35/2.5 classic? I'm just wondering if this is common for this lens, (or any screwmount for that matter) and if it affects focus accuracy in any way.

FWIW, both my 35 Ultron and 15 Heliar line up properly.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hmm, most of my LTM lenses line up just a bit to the left as I look down at them. Mine being Canon and CV lenses mostly.

*None* of mine line up, save for the Russian stuff...weird, eh? Anyway, Doesn't effect focusing or anything so no worries. BTW, I've got the Ultron and Classic, too. The classic definately sees more use, primarily due to its compact size. Even wearing a pair of tight jeans you can slip it into your pocket 🙂

I agree with Doug K. I noticed exactly the same on my colar skopar 28 I just received from Stephen G. I asked him about it and he replied it doesn't make a difference. I trust him. Don't worry.

Either the fashion for jeans is baggier in your area or you must be used to lots of "is that a lens in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?" comments. 🙂

Seriously, I find the R/35CV combo small enough for a jacket pocket, but a real streach (figuratively and literally) for pants/trouser pockets.

Off Center

My VC35 and VC75 are both off center on a leica IIIa. It does not appear to be a problem.

I have a VC 25/4 that didn't align well but I took off the screws from the back and put them in another screw hole (it has 3 different positions) and now it is aligned perfectly. I don't know if you can do this with all VC lenses but I think the 35c and the 25 use the same barrel. Just be careful to tighten the screws evenly.

Hope this helps.

That's wierd. My 35/2.5 classic lines up perfectly. My 75/2.5 is off a few degrees. I wonder if the threads haven't been "stretched" slightly. (That's a term used by pipe fitters, plumbers, and oilfield hands for fittings that have been over-tightened.)

Non of the CV LTM lenses that I have used line up with the LTM adapter but all focus perfectly. By the way Kevino, the Color Skopar 35mm/2.5 is a great lens for the money! I sold mine last year and ended up buying another this year. Excellent lens for street photography and documentary! 🙂
