Hi
i and four of my friend rented a place for establishing a darkroom two years ago. Since that time our little darkroom has turned a temple and meeting point for us and many photographer. I want to share some of photographs of our temple :)

Our darkroom is located near the Tunel Square at Istanbul-Turkey and name is only "Darkroom" :)

It is a small, semidetached with two floor and an attic building. Our neighbor buildings are generally art atelier or artist studious.

Ground floor is shown at the below two photograph. We have some furnitures for sitting places. This floor is the main place for the parties :).
Below the stairs we have small kitchen. Actually It is very small for this reason there is only a kitchen sink :) At the walls we are hanging our prints. These are generally test prints and changing time to time. Also we have a small library.

If you follow the stairs you will reach the heart of the temple, our darkroom. Let's look at the upstairs. We established the darkroom at the first floor. Below photo you can see the wet side. The workbench is 2 meters long, 70 cm width and 80 cm height. Sink is located near this bench and its dimensions are 70 cm x 70 cm x 25 cm.

At the below photo you can see the dry side of the darkroom. The workbench is same as the wet side. We have Kaisere VPM6005 Multigrade head enlarger. We can print 35 mm and medium formats.

This is a small introduction of our temple :). I am posting this thread just because I want to share with you.

When we established this place, we didn't aim any trade income. For this reason we don't need any interview or such thing. We only need friends. If one day you will come around here, i would like to welcome you.

Super cool that you guys did this - looks like a lot of fun. Maybe more of us in the U.S. should band together and do something similar.

Inspiration, not income. :)

Interviews are for spreading your message, that darkroom is a cool place to hang out for people who appreciate photography.

It was a real pleasure for me to meet Taylan and work together to develop my first ever "wet print", a real thrill. I am looking forward to being a regular member of the group, it's adds another facet to my film experience.

Really really neat!! .......... and i have never even stepped into a darkroom..sigh
One of these days......

Wow tidy! Looks like a nice place to go and chill.
The wee little community darkroom I use is always a mess.

Great Idea

Great Idea

My daughter and I will be visiting Istanbul at the end of March for 10 days. We will be staying in the Old City and doing a lot of tourist stuff. I will be bringing an M2 for black and white photography. It would be fun to visit.

The darkroom is great.. the meeting place is the best. You and your friends will have many good photos and conversations to take with you into your future work. You can share and learn from each other, what better circumstance could you wish for? Best wishes to you. pkr
