My Digilux 2 is on its way!

I couldn't resist anymore. I took the Leica D2 out for a test drive and couldn't put it down. It won't replace my Contax G2, but I think the lens optics alone will provide some great images for me.
All I did was turn on the camera and set 6 feet on the lens’s analog scale for a quick “scale-focused” street photography grab shot. It's so easy to use.

All I did was adjust the lens to 27 and now it's perfect for street photos at 6ft. It's so easy to use.

I have a D2 myself, and think it's the best camera I've ever had without a doubt. I'm not sure what you mean about "adjust the lens to 27", though.

Makes more sense now. No question that the D2 fits perfectly into the street shooter mode, probably the best of any digital for that.

I really liked the D2 but hated the viewfinder, felt like I was watching a micro tv (if that makes sense).

I agree. I hate that too. Thats why I am ordering some Voigtlander optical finders from CameraQuest next week. 🙂

I would trade away the D2 for an M7 in a heartbeat though. Maybe even a nice M6 with TTL. I just really enjoy film and those cameras over digital.

The D2 viewfinder does take some getting used to, but it has the advantage of showing you how your exposure will look. I use spot metering mode most of the time, and I can look thru the viewfinder and meter on different areas of the subject, and find just the right exposure. Really comes in handy. Also, after taking the shot, you can see the photo without having to look at the LCD on the camera back. There are advantages.

So if I need any tips or questions about the D2 I can ask you? 🙂
