I always dream to have a Minolta 7sii (I like the black version but it is rare and hard to get, the chrome one is also expensive).
Then on Sunday night I was searching in a German craglist like site and found one ad. It was 2 hours old and when I saw it, I pmed the seller immeadiately.
Yesterday after some waiting I got a call from the seller, so I got there as fast as I could. There were 2 guys before me but they didnt come, and he was glad that I came. He is the first owner and was professional photographer and I am photography student so we talked quite a bit, he also showed me some of his works, a nice gentleman.
Anyway, this is what I got, for 30 EUR.

He said he couldn't undestand why many guys called him and asked if they could have the camera for more. I didn't answer that question and now I feel a little regret, but I am going to use it, not resell so should I make a good picture with it, then enlarge it and send it to him as thanks?
I was also lucky and got 10 mercury PX675 for it. Now I am done for.
I'm sorry if you read this somewhere, but I am so happy with this found.

First off congrats on the wonderful new little friend. Minolta and Konica both made some wonderful little cameras during this time. Built like tanks, sharp like a razor glass, not too big & not too small and easy to use/control. Highly underrated IMHO.

Drop him a handwritten note of thanks for the wonderful camera and taking the time to teach you about it. Handwritten notes are almost a thing of the past and it will stand out in his mind and make him feel good. If you get something you think he would really like a copy of over the next year, print one up and send it to him. Perhaps in six months you might ring him up, invite him out for coffee and show him the work you have done with it. You pay for the coffee.

You are very lucky.

Your luck in finding this camera for a bargain hopefully will inspire you to do good things with it. And take great photos. Enjoy it.

Wear the camera on you and document your reality. After a few months select 20 best photos, print them, put them on the floor, and select the best two. These are going to be for that gentleman.

Congrats, that camera has a good reputation. Also in black, which is always nicer. :) The above suggestions about prints and coffee are spot on.

Don't fall into the "trophy" -mode, where the desire to use the camera diminished quickly as soon as you get it in your hands.

Promise yourself to use it on at least several rolls of film. Print the best, frame it nicely, and give it to the seller. If I were the seller, I'd be happy as a clam.

That's a superb little shooter for the street and for the price - Wow!

Minolta was no slouch on their optics. So, enjoy.

Best Regards,

I'm with everyone else who's said congrats on the amazing find! That camera looks really great!

I've got the standard HM 7 silver/black edition and it takes really nice photos. Yours looks way cooler then mine. :D
