In general I tend to avoid ebay on Saturdays and Sundays for one reason; prices often go to ridiculous heights as more people are active then. However, yesterday I bid on two items - very reasonable bids - and won both!

The first is a Super Ikonta B, model 532/16, that appears to be in exceptional condition. The lens serial number places manufacture as 1937, the first year of production. I had to be somewhere else when the auction ended so I threw out my best bid and left, fully expecting to lose. Imagine my surprise when there were only two bids and I won it for $102.50.

The second (are you listening, Joe?) is an 85mm f/1.9 Serenar lens for almost the exact same price. I was stunned that it didn't go for quite a bit more. It even has the original front and rear caps.

So how was your ebay weekend?

wow, good stuff! Cheap Serenar!

I won the Demornay Budd viewfinder.

I've never seen one for under $199. After I won it, I took my iiif out to the park with the kids, and was wishing I had the Demornay already, as I wanted to take some pics of some solitary blowaway dandelions. But I could almost hear the astronaut's wives lament, "who's the weird dad sprawled on the wet grass taking pictures of weeds? Shouldn't he be using a Demornay viewfinder? Freak."

I saw that and read the text carefully as I'd never seen one before. It should be an interesting piece of gear and looks to be very well made. Let us know how it performs once you've had a chance to use it.
