Luck's run out I think!!

My (cheap) Gnome Beta II has broken on me! The lever clamp to hold it on the column decided to break, so now the spring frame piece needs to be spot-welded back into place. So I need to wait for the next time I see my grandfather to have him do it for me (that could be months). :bang:

This is a disaster. Rich (blog) wanted a bunch of photo's, and even though I quoted him cost of the materials as a price for a few prints, that money coulda been useful right now!

Wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't the cheapest medium format enlarger ever.

Gah :(

Whenever something of mine breaks I think, 'at least it wasn't a bone'.

Would a jubilee clip (hose clamp) & rubber glove material under the slider clamped to the upright help for now?

That's what I'm thinking. I have two enlargers on the same column (metal tube) so the Rank Aldis 35mm is currently supporting the weight of both. I really need to stop the X-axis movement as well as the Y-axis though. I was thinking of some sort of clamping but I'm not sure

You can borrow my LPL C6700 with Nikkor 50/2.8 for a few months (probably until the spring) if you can make it to Reading and pick it up.

Hey Kully, many thanks for the offer. I don't think I'll be able to get to Reading and safely transport it though :(

I'll see how I do with fixing/replacing this one.
