My first brush with Rodinal

I use Compard R09 One Shot. When you buy a Rodinal close, make sure you're getting a clone of Rodinal and not of Rodinal Special; they're two different formulas. If memory serves -- don't quote me on this -- Compard R09 One Shot, Adox Adonal, and Foma Fomadon R09 are all Rodinal.

Also, Rodinal is called an "honest grain" developer. It doesn't reduce grain like some solvent developers do, it just gives you the grain that's there. Reportedly it works best for lower speed (<400 ISO) films, since there's less apparent grain anyway.

For those interested in trying stand development, try it when you have a roll that was shot in contrasty conditions. Stand development helps to tame excessive contrast, but make give a strange look otherwise.

Another convert to the Church of Rodinal! Hallelujah!

Rodinal is my favourite, i was given 8 rolls of just out of date XP2 (C41) from Ilford, so i thought i would try it in Rodinal and it turned out wonderful
