My first FED...And a question or two

I now have a FED2 (in surgery- capping shutter), and two FED 3s (one in need of minor surgery, a "painter"), an Industar 22 collapsible, 2 industar 61 L/Ds, a J9 and a J8. I enjoy each of them.

Oh... and an industar 26 that looks like it was in Stalingrad when Molatovs were being dropped on Panzers. It's a beater, but the glass is clean. I haven't figured that one out. Also, a Leningrad 4 Light meter for kicks.

I have a Zorki 6 on its way from Nick in Moscow. With it's own J8

Yeah, ain't it fun. It's so easy because they are so affordable.

Yep. And before you know it you wake up in a room full of "cheap" Russian cameras worth enough together to have purchased a couple of nice Leica Ms🙂

Tip: When you get up around 50 cameras, store the old leather cases in the garage or they will make you display room smell like Kraznogorsk on a rainy day.

No, I am at overload now 😀 Honestly... I may even begin selling off a few later this year.

Oh, and I have one bag that was nearly sent to Nova Sibersk because it was odorific. It was saved. It was an American product filled with the stench of years old, burned Virginia tobacco. It came with my Argus C-44. (my fave avatar at this time)

One web site I read said that a FED 5 was a good rear lens cap for a nice lens. Apparently some don't think as much of them as of earlier models. Is that meter of any real use now?

I just ordered a couple of FED 2's - an all-black 2a and a red 2d. That was two days ago, so, needless to say, they haven't arrived yet. We'll see how they pan out.

Bear in mind that it's a selenium meter and has those inherent limitations, but yes, it is of real use. The one I had agreed perfectly with my VC Meter II.
