My first roll of film (ever)!

Enter Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Whatever you do, don't read anything about Leica cameras. Don't even look at one. If rangefinders are drugs, Leica is heroin. At first you think it's an activity, and before you know it, it's a way of life. You'll be curled up in an alley, twitching and talking to yourself, trying to scrape together enough cash for asph summicrons and a black-paint quick-load convert M2. I've seen it a hundred times. You're starting down a dangerous road my friend. A dangerous road.

This is absolutely hilarious!

Well, I think you've all done a great job of scaring me - I'll be sure to keep you posted on my seemingly inevitable upgrade!

I looked on Flickr for some Velvia shots and they seem 'refined' and saturated to a point that makes them less obviously film shots, which I'd probably fulfil through digital instead. I guess I should experiment though and see whether I like it for myself...

Definitely no plans to start developing my own - it was a relief to have a few shots that I didn't have to sit down and edit, and could just post SOOC. So film scanner is the farthest I'd go down that track!

This is a lie! =D

Film is not at all 'unrefined' compared to digital. Shoot some more and your eye will train itself to see the difference. Velvia is an extremely well made film, and film is what it is. I assure you that it can and will put shame to the limitations of digital sensors.

Anyway =D Welcome to the good life. Shoot some different films and see if you find one you really like. And heed those words of GAS attacks, they are known to be fatal.
