my first shot!!

Did you notice the unusual smell when you unpacked it? Vaguely reminiscent of fresh engine oil ... or was that just me? :p

...I think he did hence the quick pump air freshener on the lower left of the selfie shot...

@ Joe: congratulations - this will be a nice addition the kit & will serve as your body+35mm fov standard... the RD1 can now be the answer to the question "should I go wider or longer? (than the X100)"
Enjoy.

congrats Joe!

you decided to let one or both RD1 go ?

if the x100 stays (and it's looking good so far) i will likely sell one of the rd1 bodies and keep the second...this way it pays for the fuji and i still have my beautiful rd1 plus lenses. best of both i hope.

Don't look now, but there's some big tattooed dude standing behind your X100. QUICK! Send it to me for safe keeping!!!

Good to see some hi ISO images from this camera. I can't wait for the X200 to come out so I can afford the X100. :D

x100 at 35...rd1 at maybe 60 (with the 40/2.8) or longer with the cv 75...or just shoot the x100 and rd1 at different times...

As you become familiar with the camera and start to use it in conjunction with an Epson it will be interesting to compare files.

I'm very impressed with how well the Fuji stacks up against my D700 ... the Nikon is better but tha gap is closer than I would have thought.

Congratulations, Joe.
Your next challenge: take some photos that will convince me I don't need one of these. Maybe you could add some fake sensor dust spots and some CA and barrel distortion in PP?

i believe i would have mixed feelings about that...

That's not an outrageous hypothesus IMO ... I could get by with only the X100 quite easily if I had to because there's bugger all it can't do!

It won't be happening of course though! :D

I've seen other samples @ 1600 from the X100. It's a sweet camera. How do you see the X100 as a 1st digital for someone who's coming from using film camera's?
