I just bought my self a 35mm f/1.4 Summilux-M (non ASPH) but i have some little problems. I cant find any info about it, the serial number is 3395xxx it has 35 written on the barrel and made in germany while camera quest says all 35mm 1.4 pre-asph are made in canada! and please some one tell me whats the filter size?😕

A quick google search brought up some guy on a German forum who was very happy with his and it was also made in Germany so at least you're not alone:

Hallo,

Also in this thread http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=953289 maddoc has one made in Germany. The filter should be a Series 7 held in place by the hood.

Hi, the filters don't screw into the front of the lens, if you have the original hood it screws apart and the series 7 filter will fit inside the hood. If you are stuck, a standard 49mm filter will fit in the hood in place of the series 7.

Do an eBay search for a series 7 but you MUST have the correct 12504 hood.

PM me if you need some pictures, but I'm sure you'll work it out. Andrew.

I had a Summilux 35 a pre ASPH a few years back that I stupidly sold... Anyway, it too was made in Germany and marked Leica on the front not Leitz. I think the later production lenses were made in Germany not Canada so enjoy using it & don't worry!

Regards!

The last batches of the 35mm Summilux pre-ASPH were made in Germany (the Titan-version being the latest) and the very final copies in parallel to the then new ASPH version.

As has been mentioned, you NEED the 12504 hood for this lens to mount filters. Either Series VII (expensive and hard to find) or E48 filter will do but the older Leitz NY E48 filters (chrome) fit not very well into the hood (to thick).

BTW, any cheap snap-on front cap in E58 size fits on the 12504 hood or if you happen to own a Sper-Angulon-M, the front cap of that lens fits into the hood of the 35mm Summilux pre-ASPH.

VOILA!
Thanx guys i found a set of minolta multicoated b&w 49mm filters and here is the result. 😀 thanks alot again tomorrow I will be shootin 35 1.4 on HP5+. Oh btw the 21 3.4 cap worked thanks for that tip too.
