I can never shoot in low light as the camera seems to shoot a maximum of half a second in low light. I am a night photographer and can't seem to get long exposures happening without bulb.
Even when indoors with lights on it should choose the correct shutter time but seems to fire too quickly. I have fixed the POD and still the same. Is it the contact slides that needs cleaning?? How do you clean these.
If I cover the light meter with my hand indoors with lense cap on it will fire at max 1 second instead of say 10 seconds.
Help!!

Have you tried your test using different f-stops? The GSN will expose for different times according to the aperture. Try using different apertures to see if the max exposure times change.

It's the rod under release button, which needs adjusting. Check if shutter stays open longer times if you keep release depressed all time during exposure?

It doesn't make a difference if I hold my finger down it will click for maximum one second in complete darkness.
Isn't this camera meant to automatically fire at 30 seconds max?

GSN shutter times
GSN shutter times
The GSN will fire at 30 seconds max when the aperture is at 5.6.
At f1.7 the longest exposure will be about 3 seconds. f/2 should be around 4 seconds; f/2.8 8 seconds all the way up to f/16 at some minutes.
The camera is set to have a max exposure of 30 seconds at f/5.6- the exposure will be the same at f/1.7 to f/16- the camera just adjusts the shutter timing accordingly.
That being said, it sounds like you have a more serious problem like btgc has said.
