it arrived in today's mail, well, actually i needed to pick it up at the post office and give the gov'met it's due plus that damn 5 buck 'handling' charge.

none the less, it's here...brian's 50/1.5 canon lens and she is a beaut!!!

so tiny with that lovely infinity lock, oh yeah this is my kind of lens. feels so great in my hand.

i can see it now, the 35/1.8 on one p and the 50/1.5 on another and the 85/2 on the third, and low light here i come.

i cannot wait to shoot some informal portraits with this lens.

near nirvana....

Isn't it great Joe, to have all your equipment needs fulfilled, and to be free of desire?

yes brother!

now i'm just waiting on the 35/3.5. the 135 on it's way is just pure gravy and satisfies more of a want.

and i must confess...i am a geek. i've been walking around my place carrying my favourite p with the 1.5 attached. i can't wait till tomorrow for a few people shots.

and i have revised my line up from above with a sub of the 2.8 for the 1.8.
i'm going with favourites all round.

i like it ok.
this may sound odd considering i prefer the smaller wide lenses but i like the feel of the bigger heavier 85/2 better. it balances just perfect on the p while the 100/3.5 feels too light on the p.
but you can't beat it for a throw in your pocket can't tell it's in the bag kinda lens.

sweet spot(s)

sweet spot(s)

Hello:

I notice that there seem to be discrete sweet spots for hand holdability - 111b/older small ltms like Elmars and an M3 with a 90mmf2 for instance. The later M's appear to benefit, in my hands, from a RRS AS plate to match the M3.

Your set might be the best!

yours

Yes, the 50. That pic looks pretty sharp. Maybe an "orange" would have made it look less white? (Snow. Haha.) 😉

PS: it's snowing here too, but not like that! 😛

Good to see you are in P heaven (or is it P Zen?) The chrome 50 Canon lenses are beautiful indeed. Now, go and shoot it! Shoot it wide open; get an ND filter if you can.
