I tend to clean my lens and equipment in general as little as possible. Dust is removed by blowing it off or with a soft brush. If there are still residues from liquids like rain or finger prints I use a soft clean paper towel (without oil and what not) and some breath after brushing particles off. I purchased some lens cleaning paper lately, but did not use it yet. I do not baby my gear. It is meant to be used and if it can't take the hit it is the wrong gear. This is one of the reasons why I like the J8 so much. Good optics and it does not cost a fortune to replace if it breaks, something I do not expect to happen very soon.

You could let it get really dirty/misty - and have that 'dreamy' vintage look that is so often praised around here!
