I've been working with fresh packs of the PO 600 color and B&W lately in the MiNT SLR670a.
I'm very pleased with the B&W ... dial in just a little underexposure and it looks great right out of the camera. Color similar, but getting truly rich, natural color is less consistent.
I think one key is that learning the film behavior is difficult because it's expensive and takes a while to develop fully. Consistency is much improved over previous generations of Impossible film, but it is still a bit twitchy. Freshness is critical, so I now buy three or four packs, max, at a time.
I find the same to be true in large part with the Instax Square film, but that's a bit more consistent on color and exposure.

my PO b&w shots are already getting brown and faded, and color is fading and getting odd color shifts. :bang:

Now I wish I hadn't gifted my SX-70. Nice shots Godfrey and the others. Some fun back to photography.

Think Different
That’s exactly it, instant puts the fun back into photography. 20-year olds, and younger, who have never seen a Polaroid print are amazed when I show them a picture of themselves in a few minutes. Older folks, who remember Polaroids, always smile when I pull out my SX-70. Nice.

Good for you. Buy some film for it now...
Sheesh.

Well, the films were different back then (I really miss my 110B). There is nothing wrong composition wise with your image, but there is quite a lack of contrast.
I used to shoot with an SX-70 back when they were brand new, and while they had a use, I always felt the films were too soft. All those cameras were sold a long time ago, but I picked up an SX-70 couple of years back with the leather case for $10, and in March I ordered a pack for it. Now you only get eight shots!
Of course, I'll have to get the film shield when I put in another order (they were out of the color at the time), because I forgot about it (still haven't shot the first pack).
My tastes have changed after using quite a few different camera systems since I was retired. I finally had the time, and occasional resources to try all the stuff I never got to use before when I was stuck with just one system each in 35mm and medium format.
Sorry if my little remark offended you, Godfrey. It wasn't meant to.

It is hard for such a comment not to, but eh? who cares. I'm over it.
I like the tonal scale provided by the latest B&W film. Polaroid themselves never produced B&W for the SX-70, Impossible started that, and I like this latest film a lot.
The sharpness and qualities of an SX-70 photograph ... Well, it is what it is, and if you like it, it's great. If not, go find something else. I enjoy it: it's simple and expressive.
I haven't been using the film shield at all. It's not too necessary any more, as long as you are not in direct sun, and even then I just quickly flip the camera over, pluck the print away, and stick it somewhere dark for a few minutes.
I have three packs worth of film sitting on my desk, maybe I'll get a chance to scan it today.

Sorry for the cheesy scan, I'm setting up to do some nice scans but don't think I'll get there today.
enjoy!
