Just bought a Zorkii 3 with a 50mm f2 Jupiter 8 for 49 GBP used. Feels nice and all seems to be working well. So, mind if I join in?

Excellent! I think the Z3/Z3m are the two best looking FSU cameras. And very capable. One peice of advice(hope you don't mind): make it an unvarying habit to wind first then change speeds.
Have you put film in it yet? Looking forward to some photos!

The Z3 has to be my favorite shooter. Mine seems to have a good fit and finish, and they were made during the "golden days" of the FSU rangefinderdom. Many say that the slow speeds are unreliable on his model, but I find that mine was only unreliable because it was dirty. I spent a day or two inside mine to do a CLA, here is what I found I had to do:
1) Remove and clean the Slow speed delayer
2) Clean and lubricate wind mechanism
3) Clean and lube the slow speed mechanism at the top & bottom sections
4) Lowered the Curtain tension (They were waaay too tight)
5) Realigned the RF
6) Adjusted the Slow speed delayer and the stop for the "Time" exposure
7) Made a light seal for the back out of yarn.

It sounds like a lot of work...and it was. But, now that I have this smooth winding, relatively quiet Zorki with strap lugs and a nice bright VF, it was worth it. Everyone on this site can be very helpful if you need any help with it.

I'll see how the Zorkii performs before I go fiddling with its innards, but thanks for the tips. No doubt they'll come in useful at some point.

Sure, no problem. If I were to make one suggestion before you load film - Check the RF alignment, and run through all of the shutter speeds to make sure that they look reasonably close and function. Also, I'm not sure if anyone else says this - make a habit of leaving the slow speed dial set to "25" - keeps from interfering with the "B" setting.

Congrats on getting the Z3 - look forward to seeing some pics from it. I think the 3 and 3M are the best looking FSU rangefinders of them all, and I've fancied one for ages. And I'm quite pleased to say that I've just won an eBay auction for a 3M for £51. The seller has lots of good feedback and says it's excellent++, so I shall have to wait and see.

How is parallex with the Leica finder mounted on the higher profile Zorki compared to what is recorded on film??

I noticed the Z3 cost a bit more than most Zorkis.. It looks more like a Leica IIIc copy..

You can get a rough sense of vertical parallax from comparing the view between the Zorki's finder and the shoe-mounted finder. The camera should be mounted on a tripod, of course. As for horizontal parallax, it just depends on how far the shoe deviates from the lens axis.
