Back in early March when home from hospital to recover from my heart attack, I found myself sitting around the home a lot more than I've ever been used to, and mainly the computer and my books to pass the time, while my wife was at her nursing work. So I decided to fulfill a desire I'd had since boyhood, and got me a banjo ukulele - of all things!, from Ebay, a little worn and marked, and made in Chicago around 1920, even to my novice ears it sounds great!.
Well never having handled one before, I've practised till my fingers hurt! ( good job I'm home alone all day! ) and can now pound out 'ragtime' and even one or two of the old George Formby numbers - like I never thought I could!, LOL - it's amazing what can be achieved when put in a suitable situation, and perseverance!. Here's where the gas comes in! - because some of these little old things are worth quite a lot, and I keep an eye on the sales!, but enough non-photographic rambling!.......I just wondered if anyone else is interested in these little beauties? :)
Cheers, Dave.

Good for you. I had a cancer scare several years ago and I vowed to stop second-guessing myself and just go ahead and do things. Hasn't always worked, 'cause some of the things I want to do are way too expensive. By and large, though, I've learned to follow my instincts. Making yourself happy isn't selfish.
