Well, I was looking for a 35 mm finder for my Kiev, but I couldn't pass this up. It looks great n my Zorki-C.

Christopher, what is it?! I just ordered a 35mm viewfinder from Yuriy at dvdtechcameras.com. It's not quite as pointy as yours ;)

That's an early Leitz Imarect finder as indicated by the 7,3CM setting. Later models had the 8,5CM setting. (For 85mm lens such as the J-9, I'd use the "tight" 90mm setting. That's the short line that's used when close to a subject.)

Unless you need the 28mm setting that the Imarect doesn't have, it's a far better finder IMO than the FSU Contax copy finder. My opinion is based primarily on the much superior parallax adjustment of the Imarect that makes accurate framing easier.

It's a multi-finder for 35mm-135mm. Kind of like the russian turret finders, except it is a leica product. I am interested to see how well the paralax correction works. Either way it's a welcome addition to the "collection". GAS strikes again. I said I wouldn't buy more cameras, so widgets are still in play!

I have one of these turret finders and it is really quite amazing. Its made in Germany and has the label Optimus, with a distance scale for the parallax correction mechanism and diopter correction also. Its kind of big and hefty but it works really well.

The parallax correction will work beautifully IF the finder is oriented correctly in the accessory shoe. Most FSU cameras I have don't have the most precision accessory shoes and allow the finders to wallow around some when mounted. If the finder angles right ot left when in the shoe, parallax correction will suffer.
