Got got it in the mail today. Wow what a packing job. I thought someone sent me an M7 by mistake. After digging throught 4 layers of packing out came the box. Inside was everything like it just came from the dealer. Even the original price is on the box $109.97 from Benjamins. Wow its mint, now I don't know if I should use it or buy another shooter? Man this is a sickness. :bang: Just going over it and boy am I happy. Even the serial number on the camera matches the box. Now I think maybe I should not have sold my other GSN just incase I don't want to use this one. Oh well

are you kidding? how many of us ever get the chance to actually use a new GSN.. go for it!
on the other hand.. if you put it on eb*y, you might get $100 or more for it.. those GSN buyers are kinda funny.. you never know what will happen

Very nice - I hope you enjoy using it.

Just like all GSN's that have been sitting in someone's closet for 30 years, it could use new ones. No a problem though.

How many is enough?
I bought a new one around 1974, and I have bought and sold about 8 of them in recent years, still own 3, (I think!) [Well, the closet IS getting crowded by now...]
and the only time I ever saw an original box was when i bought the new one.
Something about that chrome still looking like new after 30 years reminds you that the formula used couldn't be good for man or the environment...

I had gotten two in near new shape a GTN and GSN a couple years ago. They had no boxes but they were mint looking and had just been serviced by Mark Hama. I used the GTN one time but was so scared I would mark it. Put them on Ebay and got great prices
for them and returned to my beater GSN to use..

Flashover, I told you it was new.
I have another one that's been used maybe once or twice and it too sits in its box. It's pristine. The one I'm using is also pristine but I'ver put maybe 40 rolls of film through it so far. Maybe more.
So you liked my packaging job, eh? I always package like that plus add insurance. One never knows....

I love my GSN (got mine from Greyhound). It's quite possibly the sharpest piece of glass I own, and only cost me $30 at that. (It's a user with some minor finish stuff. On ebay of course it would be NIB - everything is)

I thought I would put a battery in it and test it. Can't even do that, when I opened the battery compartment I noticed the + contact still has a sticker on it to tell you it's positive. Have to remove the sticker for contact. Now my brain hurts even more. I need to put it in the case above the fireplace and pray to the rangefinder gods every morning

Oh - if it's a POS, and they even labelled it that way at the factory, perhaps you should send it to me for safe disposal.
And put some pictures in your gallery already.

I haven't used the gallery. Photos of what the camera or other stuff. Most of the stuff I have is digital so far. Other than family photos most of the stuff on my harddrive I can't post due to privicy issues or I just don't want to make people sick.

How do you know it even works, if you don't put at least one roll through it.
The POD could be shot.
Hay your just tryn to trick me into using it.

Dave you got my tummy upset thinking about that. So I put a battery in it and it works perfectly.

I can sleep with it on my bedside table also. Just to keep an eye on it. I might have to defend it from some burgler in the middle of the night. Oh my wife can look after herself, trust me on that one.

I'd actually enquired about this camera but passed when I realized that it was actually *new* new (rather than like new) pretty much exactly because I knew I'd have the dilemma that flashover has been experiencing. Ironically, I'm buying the GSN he gave up when he bought the new one from Frank.
I'm glad to see that someone finally had the nerve to "deflower" that camera

Hello all - I'm new to this forum and to the world of rangefinders...recently purchased 2 Yashica's (G & J) from eBay. Regarding this post, Greyhound mentions POD's going bad...what's a POD?
cp_ste.croix
At the beginning again.
POD = Pad of DEATH...MUA HA HA HA HA HA
seriously it's a foamy thing in a really hard to reach area that gets all gummy and needs replacing. I was too chickensh*t to do my own...but I will say that my GSN is my fav shooter right now, even surpassing my eos 1v

Flashover, you too can wrap it up and store it in the closet; or be a man and use it...very carefully. He-he.
If it would have been my only GSN or camera, I probably would have used it.
