my new J-9

Thanks to Stephanie Brim :angel: , I've a nice, clean J-9 to work with now.

It's very clean and the slightly stiff focus action seems to suggest that it's not been mucked about with; something I take as a good omen. I have it in the bag with a Fed 3a and a few other lenses and can't wait to pull that Tri-X out and run it through some developer.

:dance: I know it's here some where, but I'll ask anyway; what are good hoods for this lens?

I never got a hood for it, but I'm sure that it'll be pretty easy to find one. I have one hood plus a few filters (orange, yellow, and red) for both my J-12 and J-3.

I really hope you have fun with it. I did.

The way I found a hood for my J-9 was to do an ebay search for 49mm. It will bring up hoods, filters, etc.
Look for a good fairly straight hood that is not flared out.
Don't get a rubber hood since it will intrude too much into the rangefinder view.

I've got a hood from heavystar at *bay. 49mm just like Colyn mentioned.

An olympus OM-x series rubber hood for a 85mm or 100mm lens is an exact fit for viewfinder cut off and lens shading...

Ahem... It also is the best for a drop test, the olympus hood is really solid rather then foldable, with the provisio, that you can arrange the camera to land on the hood and catch it before the body hits, it is best not to ask about this last.

You can get them in everything for a dollar junk boxes in fairs etc.

Daniel, I'm just waiting until I can finish putting the last chemicals in my new portable darkroom setup and a few odds and ends. I'm going the mix your own developers, etc route and am stocking up for a first run in the next few weeks. I've been putting bits and pieces together for the last year or so, as I could swing it, and it's coming together pretty well. In the mean time I shoot and wait. 🙂
