It's not a beater-leica. The only tarnish on the camera is around the baseplate and slow speed knob, and even then hardly any. A leica in this condition DEMANDS the money spent for a 'professional' to sort it out.
I think I might buy a rough condition III or even a Zorki-1 and try the mirror cleaning myself, but the IIIc is staying in one piece as long as I can bear it

good idea to practice on a beater.
remember, the 50/50 mirror is open coated on one side and should not be touched or wiped.
handle it by the edge only.
