Welcome to the family, X-E1 and 35mm lens 😀

I look forward to learning from you on this forum.

First things first. Where is the firmware information hidden. I can't seem to find it in the menus....

What a sweet camera.
Time to read the manual.

Thank you for the link. I'll check it out. A lot of studying to do!

After a two hour walk about with the xe1/35mm combo without having read the manual, I'm very pleased so far!

One niggle is that if you chose the film style bracketing, it no longer also saves the photo in raw format (setting is RAW+F). I can also see what everyone is talking about when opening the raw files in Adobe - a little muddy.
There's a lot to love about this camera.
Not the least of which is the size!

I just got mine. Seems like a keeper. The salesman said within 14 days I can bring it back and drop $400 for the zoom, which I might do. So far the 35 is quite the night performer. I had it set on 6400auto and the noise is very film grain like. It seems to smash my 5dii and D3 and I can pretty much hide the thing in my gorilla hand. I'm psyched!
 
My second day out with the camera.
Only problem was that a fully charged battery only lasted for 31 shots!
And that's with the sleep timer set to minimum and using only the EVF 🙁 ???

Oh and having only the 35mm just won't do!

Surely you mean 310 right? Otherwise something is terribly wrong with your camera and/or battery.

I get 300ish from my XP1 an extra battery is a must.

I seem to be following in Joe's footsteps when in comes to purchasing cameras. Silver X-E1, because everyone knows that silver cameras take better photos. 🙂

Lovely jpg's, looking forward to improved Lightroom raw processing. This shot uses a Neopan 100 simulation.

I tried shooting with my Leica 28/2.8 asph, but clearly need focus peaking before this is really a useful option.

Nope 31!
I was shocked.
The first day I took 150 or so and only lost a bar on the battery.
The only difference being I just updated the lens firmware.
Curious huh?
I'll see what it does next time, although m thinking I should tun it off after every shot...

That doesn't sound right. Even the Sigma Merrill gets better mileage than that. Somethings wrong
 
My third outing with the xe1. No battery issues. I wonder what happened yesterday!
Learning its quirks and loving it for what it is. It won't replace my canon gear, but is a nice addition

I'm sure that's true.
I also suspect one of the following

I had had set the sleep mode to 30sec - changed that back to 2 min again
I had had the quick wake option set to on - turned it off
I had relied on the sleep cycle to save battery and left the xe1 in on position for a couple of hours of walking around - I'll turn it off from now on

And...... I ordered 2 spare batteries! 🙂

Those latest images are from a photo session with a 4 year old. The xe1 did much better than I had hoped.
What I learned from that was to not use the film bracket mode. It just takes too long to save the 3 versions of the image and disrupted the session flow. Instead use raw and convert in camera to whatever film mode later. Maybe with time and experience I'll get better at choosing the right film mode from the start.

Hope these comments are helpful to some.
 
The battery has been behaving since that time.
I think it was the quick wake option that drained it so fast
