I finally got it about a week ago and managed to shoot some portra so far.

I just love it 😀

Below you can find some rough portraits taken as tests for the camera.
I just love portra 😀 And I can t wait to see the Velvia and the T-Max 😀

Recently brought a 124G back to life and think the Yashinon is also a nice lens for color work.

Thanks guys 🙂

Ektar hah... I ll try a roll if I manage to find one, although I m shotting mostrly in limted light, so 100 asa rating will be alittle pain...

For now portra VC seems a little bit red for my taste. I have a few rolls of NC I want to try along with some Reala and some Velvia.

Other than that, I think that I will love T-max 😀

I just picked one up as well. Have only run a couple of rolls through it so far, but I have a 5-pack of Velvia and a bunch of Tri-X ready to go play! The meter on mine was a bit under-exposed when taken at face value - at least for the first roll of Velvia - so I'll shoot a couple more test rolls just to see if that is a chronic issue or just operator error.

Have fun! I know I am!

Mark

You too 🙂

By the way about the meter, did it came with a battery or did you buy one of those overpriced ones that are supposed to be mercury battery equivalent?

Mine came with a crappy "modern" battery that is obviously unsuitable, since the needles do not move if I cover the sensor. Any suggestions?

Check this out and download the referenced pdf files. <http://buhla.de/Foto/eQuecksilber.html>
I bought an adaptor from Franz for 16 Euros. (It was for my Nikkormat, but I think the 124G batteries are the same).

I have several Mercury batteries for this camera but I don't like the meter so I don't use it...I meter with another camera or my trusty Weston Master II...
Lots of times I'll use my experience to determine what I believe the right exposure should be...most times I'm right...😎

I had a plain Yashica-Mat (no 124 or 124G, just a Mat) and I liked using it a lot until it quit on me. I eventually got a 124G but I didn't really like it that much. I'm not sure why... it just didn't connect with me. So I ended up getting an Autocord which I love... but use all too seldom.

Have fun with your 124G. You'll get looks using a TLR. Mostly approving.

I have an "A625" in the Yashica Mat 124G now. This cell is exactly in the same shape and size, as well as polarity as the old Hg 625, but has an alkaline-lithium electrolyte. Its been there for about 4 months now, and the meter appears to be reading properly.

Even if you don't find batteries, the loss of meter function is really trivial and can be ignored in a camera like the Mat124G.

I have one of a pair that I bought in an Army PX in Germany in the early '70s that I'm just getting ready to send to Mark Hama for a compete tune and service. It's costing $25 more than I paid for the camera, but I'm sure it will be even better than new once he smooths up the creaky film advance system it's always had. I should get it back just in time to run some Ektar 120 through it for some fall leaves pix. Be like meeting an old friend after a long time.

I got my wife a Yashica 124G for her Birthday this year, the only downside is the meter doesn't work so she has to use one of my hand-held meters. It is definitely a nice camera, one of these days I want to borrow it. 😀

I recently picked up a roll of 127 so I can see if the Yashica 44LM I have still works. It is one camera I'll definitely pay to have repaired if needed. It is the camera I started with 30+ years ago.

I just cleaned the optic removing the back part of the lens from inside

then I had to CLA the meter it worked hafl of the time 😀 it was just the lever that switch the camera on when you open the wlf that was a little sticky

I ended up using it mostly out of experience, since I mostly use Tmax pushed, so it is very easy to fix the exposure afterwards.

Only in lower ratings I need a metering, usually provided by Bizarrius and his handheld meter 😀
