This is a really beautiful camera. It seems to function just fine. I have years of shooting M cameras and I can say I am impressed by the design of this camera. I love the feel and rubberized grip material, the layout and I even like the file advance although that may fade🙂
For glass I will start with what I have in the closet; 28 f3.5, 35 f2 asph. I have a 50 and 90 too. I am still considering the 21mm Biogon but for me that lens is big and then the need of using a hot shoe finder is also a factor. For my purposes and wider angled shots I think I would do fine with the 21 f4. So I will likely pick one of those up as well as a 28 f1.9.
It is important to me to have a usable fast lens and be able to isolate subjects with large aperture. The 35 'Cron of course does that but it is too normal on an R D1. The 28mm focal length works a bit better for everyday use and the f1.9 will give me that dimensionality.
Thanks to those of you who have provided me input regarding the R D1 and potential issues/foibles.
